Close to 27,000 customers with high internet rent will have their electricity bill reduced by 8 øre per kWh on average this year. The reason is a subsidy of 20 million to seven online companies.
The subsidy goes to the seven network companies with the highest network rent, according to Norwegian Directorate of Water Resources and Energy (NVE).
The 26,806 customers of Sandøy Nett, DE Nett, Uvdal Kraftforsyning, Sør Aurdal Energi, Bømlo Kraftnett, Modalen Kraftlag and Indre Hordaland Kraftnett will have their network rent reduced.
The subsidy to the network companies has been granted by the Storting to reduce the internet rent in places where this is high, among other things, as a result of large distances between subscribers and difficult geographical conditions.
The network companies are obliged to let the entire subsidy go to reduced network rent in 2023.
