Erlangen (dpa / lby) – A dead man was recovered from the Regnitz in Erlangen on Friday. After an initial check, the criminal police assume that it is the 27-year-old who has been missing since Tuesday, the police headquarters in Central Franconia announced in the evening. The man got into the current of the Regnitz while bathing in the Wöhrmühle area and has since been missing.
Police, fire brigade, DLRG, water rescue and emergency services immediately began extensive search and rescue operations on Tuesday, it said. The search should continue over the weekend.
Water sports enthusiasts discovered the dead man on Friday in the area of the weir at the Werker hydroelectric power station, it was said. This is about two kilometers away from the Wöhrmühle. Firefighters rescued the body from the water.
