27 migrants died on Belarus’ border with Poland, Lithuania and Latvia

The international humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières has condemned the authorities of Lithuania and Latvia for the deportation of migrants at the border in cold winter conditions. This is reported TAX Monday 19 December.

“Despite the harsh winter conditions, deportations continue on a daily basis, with no respect for human dignity and rights,” the organization said in a statement.

MSF believes that the Lithuanian and Latvian authorities “deliberately create unsafe conditions for people, further increasing their suffering”.

Georgina Brown, a spokeswoman for the Baltics, said: “Over the past few weeks, 14 people, including children, have been admitted to hospitals, many requiring limb amputation.” The press service of “Médecins Sans Frontières” reported that since last year at least 27 people have died at the borders, and these are only the victims who have been known about, there may be more deaths.
