27 West Flemish young people were taken to hospital due to CO intoxication during a ski trip with Kazou. In the meantime they are back in their enclosure.

The incident occurred with a group of 51 West Flemish young people aged 15 and 16. They were on a skiing holiday in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, in the French Alps, with Kazou, a daughter of the CM health insurance fund.

“On Tuesday evening around 5:30 p.m., the cook became unwell, after which the ambulance was called,” says Florence Slock, press officer of Kazou. The cook had to be taken to hospital.

Because it turned out to be CO poisoning, it was decided to evacuate and test all young people. A high concentration of CO in the blood was found in 27 of the 51 young people. They were taken to two nearby hospitals.

All young people can return to the ski resort on Wednesday. “The center has also been approved again,” says Slock. “The cause was a leak from a cooking stove, but that has now been repaired.”

The young people who were not admitted to hospital will be back in custody on Wednesday. The others are still resting, but will also be able to continue their skiing holiday.

The parents have been informed, Kazou reports.
