27 cases in a day camp in Boucherville

At least 27 children and staff at the “Charlot l’escargot” day camp in Boucherville, Montérégie, have contracted COVID-19.

According to the CISSS de la Montérégie-Center, the outbreak began on July 20.

Everyone who attended the day camp between July 13 and July 21 received the information from public health.




The CISSS specifies that the epidemiological investigation has, moreover, made it possible to identify people who have had contact with the cases.

“These contacts may have resulted in secondary cases, which could lead to a higher number of cases. The exact number is not known for the moment, ”said the spokesperson for the CISSS.

Children and sick employees are in isolation at home and the camp is closed until August 7 inclusively.

“The Montérégie Public Health Department is monitoring the situation closely, in collaboration with the day camp management. All people identified as potentially at risk have been invited to undergo a screening test and public health has contacted parents and staff to inform them of the measures to be taken in the circumstances ”, specifies the director of public health. from Montérégie, Dr. Julie Loslier, in a press release.
