In qualification, Vāvere scored 64 points out of a possible 75, while Upelnieks scored 73 points. With a total of 137 plates fired, the Latvian duo finished 26th in the 36 pair competition.
The best six entered the final and to achieve this they had to score at least 143 points.
The Bench Shooting World Championship will take place in the Croatian city of Osijek from 19 September to 12 October.
