265 DHF cases in Banyuwangi for 6 months, 8 people died

Banyuwangi

The Banyuwangi Health Office (Dinkes) noted that for 6 months, starting from January to June 2022, cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) reached 265 cases. With a total number of deaths as many as 8 people.

The number of cases of the outbreak caused by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito has exceeded the number of cases compared to last year. From January to December 2021, only 92 cases were recorded in Banyuwangi.

“Until the middle of the year there were 265 cases. From this case, 8 people died,” said Head of Communicable Disease Control and Prevention (P2PM) Banyuwangi Health Office, Achmad Yunus Setiawan to reporters, Tuesday (28/6/2022).

Yunus said Banyuwangi is an endemic area for dengue fever. That is, every year this case continues to be found.

“So people need to be alert and vigilant, by improving the cleanliness of their respective environments to avoid dengue fever,” Yunus hoped.

According to him, the Banyuwangi Health Office has made preventive efforts in controlling this DHF. The main thing is to intensify the PSN Gertak program (Simultaneous Movement for the Eradication of Mosquito Nests).

The whole community is also advised to be more concerned with this dengue case, by taking a series of precautions. Starting from draining the bathtub once a week, cleaning all water reservoirs and minimizing places that might be a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

“Such as puddles of water around settlements. Such as gutters, used tires, cans, bottles, plastic, to glasses of mineral water,” he concluded.
