This 26-year-old young man was placed in judicial detention, awaiting his presentation before the Aix-en-Provence public prosecutor’s office, with a view to his extradition to his country of origin.
Le Figaro Nice
A 26-year-old Canadian national was arrested on Monday in Nice as part of a broadcast Interpollearn Le Figaro from police sources. This young man had been wanted for almost a year for a homicide committed in Montreal on May 31, 2023.
At the end of October, the National Fugitive Search Brigade (BNRF) of the Central Office for the Fight against Organized Crime (OCLCO) was made aware by the Canadian police of the possible location in France of the person concerned. Five months later, BNRF investigators in turn informed their counterparts at the Nice Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS 06) that the fugitive was in the Baie des Anges. This is how he was apprehended on the public highway during a police operation to which agents of the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) were invited.
Extradition
The accused was immediately placed in police custody and then in judicial detention, awaiting his presentation before the Aix-en-Provence public prosecutor’s office, with a view to his extradition to his country of origin, where he must answer for the crime for which he is being prosecuted.
