25th anniversary for “Sport am Sonntag” auction for LICHT INS DUNKEL: Auctions for a good cause

As part of LIGHT IN THE DARK, 16 exclusive exhibits were auctioned again

Vienna (OTS) – The program “Sport on Sunday for LIGHT IN THE DUNKEL” celebrated a special anniversary this year and was already in its 25th year. Exclusive exhibits from the world of sports were auctioned off again yesterday, December 10, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. on ORF 1. The program was presented live from Studio 2 at the ORF media campus by Oliver Polzer, Kristina Inhof and Andreas Onea. In total, the auction brought in a donation of 167,908 euros for LICHT INS DUNKEL.

In its 25th anniversary year, the “Sport on Sunday” auction was also supported by army athletes. Mountain bike world champion Mona Mitterwallner, cage surfing world champion Florian Dungl and show act Thorsteinn Einarsson were also guests live in the studio.

During the auction of the anniversary broadcast of “Sport am Sonntag für LICHT INS DUNKEL” the final result was a total of 167,908 euros. The sum resulted from the proceeds of the auction in the amount of 131,722 euros, two checks for 22,500 euros (one check for 15,000 from the operator of the Vienna shopping center “Aufhof Center & Riverside” Peter Schaider Jr., a second check for 7,500 euros from GT Gerätetechnik ) as well as donations pledged during the sports day amounting to 13,686 euros.

Exclusive exhibits auctioned for a good cause

An Airpower backstage experience in Zeltweg, including travel to and from the Douglas DC-6, VIP tickets and three nights’ accommodation, provided by the Austrian Armed Forces, Red Bull and the State of Styria, fetched 30,000 euros in yesterday’s auction of the show “Sport on Sunday for LIGHT IN THE DUNKEL” the highest bid. 22,000 was the second highest bid of the live broadcast, invested in an exclusive Henrik Kristoffersen painting made by artist Tom Lohner and provided by Lohner, Kristoffersen and Van Deer-RedBull Sports. The third highest bid at 11,000 euros came with a Formula 1 backstage day in Spielberg including two VIP tickets for the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring, a pit tour and a meet-and-greet with a Formula 1 legend achieved. The Formula 1 backstage day was provided by Red Bull Ring. 10,500 euros were donated for a rally test day on snow and ice under the guidance of 14-time national champion Raimund Baumschlager; the exhibit was provided by Skoda and BRR Baumschlager Rallye&Racing. Finally, 10,000 euros went to an exclusive tennis doubles match against Tobias Pötzelsberger and Oliver Polzer at the Erste Bank Open on the center court of the Wiener Stadthalle, including two VIP tickets, provided by Erste Bank Open and Vienna Marriott Hotel .

The remaining 16 exhibits, which were collected by the “Sport am Sonntag” editorial team throughout the year and offer unique experiences from the world of sports for which great Austrian athletes make themselves available, also achieved top bids , all of which benefit the LIGHT IN THE DUNKEL campaign.

As in the previous year, the auction was supervised by chief treasurer Leopold Pfaffl from the Vienna Dorotheum and notary Mag. Beate Schumacher.
