Feminist associations have called different protests in Madrid on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against women.
On the one hand, the Feminist Movement of Madrid has called a demonstration that will tour the Gran Vía in Madrid under the slogan “Machismo kills, rapes, exploits and erases women, enough is enough!”. The march is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. from the confluence of Alcalá and Gran Vía streets and will end in the Plaza de España.
The PSOE has confirmed its attendance at this demonstration, as reported, with a representation led by the secretary for Equality of the formation, also a deputy Andrea Fernández.
The main government party participates this year in the call that in 2021 launched slogans against the Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, such as “You cannot see, where is the Minister of Equality”, “Our minister is not a feminist”, or “Being a woman is not a feeling”, the latter in relation to the Trans Law promoted by Equality and which is now being processed in Congress.
Ministry sources have explained to Europa Press that the head of Equality will attend a demonstration for 25N, but they have not specified which one, since she is going in a personal capacity, not as a member of the Government.
The 8M feminist movement has also called different mobilizations in the capital. This organization will hold its own rally in different neighborhoods, in this case under the slogan “Faced with the culture of violence, feminisms are our response.”
