Last Monday and from Wednesday to Sunday evening, the vaccination against the coronavirus was carried out in Vorarlberg. Around 25,400 citizens were immunized over the six days, states Health Councilor Martina Rüscher.
Around 6,900 people, including for the first time young people aged twelve and over, received their first vaccination. The necessary second dose was given to around 18,500 Vorarlberg residents. Impfstraßen were set up in Dornbirn and Bregenz, Nenzing, Bezau and Hirschegg.

All young people who have been vaccinated will receive the second dose before the summer holidays, assures the regional councilor: “It’s about giving the young generation a safe summer”. Because even young people could get seriously ill with Corona, Rüscher refers to cases that have been confirmed worldwide: “Even if much less often, severe courses or sequelae such as Long Covid Syndrome can also affect younger people. We therefore have a duty to offer this age group the best possible protection against illness. ”With the vaccination, more freedom is possible, said the health officer.

Decisive contribution in the forefront
The immunizations in the past vaccination week were carried out with the funds from BioNTech / Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca. The health officer thanks all citizens who have already been vaccinated and who have been marked for vaccination: “Those who get vaccinated support our path towards community immunity”.

Appeal: keep the agreed vaccination appointments reliably
In this context, the State Councilor sends an urgent appeal to all persons with a specific vaccination invitation to keep their vaccination appointment. It happens more and more often that vaccination appointments that have already been agreed are not attended to or at a completely different point in time. Associated with this is an enormous logistical effort, because a few thousand people are to be vaccinated by the beginning of summer. During the summer months, the vaccinations will also be rolled out to the resident area, and there will then no longer be an automatic renewed invitation. Rüscher: “We therefore appeal to all those interested in vaccination to reliably keep their appointments – you will make the organization much easier for us.”
