Suffolk Police (Long Island, NY) are looking for a man suspected of stealing more than $25,000 worth of jewelry from a Walmart store on Middle Island.

Detectives reported this week that the man stole the jewelery from a locked case at the Middle Country Road shop on November 5 at around 8.20pm.

Police released a security camera image of the suspect, it said patch.com. Suffolk Crime Stoppers offers a Cash reward for data leading to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information can submit an anonymous report by calling 1-800-220-TIPS.

In a similar case, A Hispanic mother and her daughter were arrested and charged with using a child to rob a Walmart store in Westchester County, New York.

Walmart CEO Doug McMillon warned earlier this month that thefts have gotten so bad at his stores that they may need to take drastic measures such as closing stores or raising prices.

Thefts cost retailers $94.5 billion in 2021. Retail organized crime incidents increased by 26.5% last year, according to the 2022 National Retail Safety Survey.
