Munich: In numerous German cities, tens of thousands of people peacefully demonstrated against racism and police arbitrariness in the afternoon. According to official information, around 25,000 participants were counted in Munich’s Königsplatz alone, although the event was only approved for 200. According to the police, the distance rules were not observed. Again and again the protesters shouted “Black lives matter” in protest against the killing of the American George Floyd. Thousands also took part in silent demonstrations in Nuremberg and Augsburg. According to estimates in Berlin, well over 10,000 people took to the streets for diversity, tolerance and cosmopolitanism. Peaceful protests also took place in Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt and Stuttgart.
