2,500 people in a naked stunt

Around 2,500 people lined up naked on Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach on Saturday.

The reason for the somewhat unusual collection is that the American photographer Spencer Tunick is working on a new art project.

The aim is to raise awareness of skin cancer in Australia. according to World Fund for Cancer Research Australia is the country most affected by skin cancer in the world.

– We have an opportunity to raise awareness about skin cancer controls and I’m honored to be able to come here, make art and celebrate both the body and protection, says Tunick, according to Reuters.

One of the attendees, Robyn Lindner, tells the news agency it was a great experience.

– I was secretly terrified and last night I have to admit I thought “what have I done”, but it was amazing. There was a really good atmosphere, everyone was very respectful and it was a lot of fun, Lindner says.

Another attendee, 77-year-old Bruce Fisher, says he thought it was an important topic.

– I’ve spent half my life in the sun and had a couple of malignant melanomas removed from my back, Fisher tells AFP.

“I think this was a good cause, and I like stripping in Bondi,” she continues.

Tunick pulled off a similar stunt in 2010. He then lined up 5,200 naked Australians at the Sydney Opera House.
