The “100% high school radio” web, run by the Center-Val de Loire Region, set up for the first time at the Jehan-de-Beauce high school, in Chartres, this Monday, January 10.
For two and a half days, more than 250 students from the establishment will take turns at the microphone to host shows broadcast live on yeps.fr, the regional platform dedicated to young people.

“What a joy to participate in this project! The students have fun. It is a magnificent experience, in a context where the oral takes its place. I dreamed of it, we have it!”

Clervie Guillou, professor librarian within the establishment, worked for several months, with fellow teachers and students, to prepare for the arrival of this web radio. The participants worked on the editorial content and the program schedule.
“We are happy that the project was not canceled because of the Covid. The students need this. It’s a new exercise that is rewarding for them, ”explains Clervie Guillou.
A regional webradio hosted by high school students from Chartres, for 3 days
This Monday, at the beginning of the afternoon, a first class hosted a program for an hour in English. Pupils of the second, accompanied by their sports teacher, then joined the recording studio, installed in a room of the high school.
“Remember to speak slowly and set the tone,” recalls Clervie Guillou, before the students take their places behind the microphones.
Modena, who is about to speak on web radio, considers this experience “a chance”. Her class was interested in the theme of gender equality. The high school student confides:
“Gender equality is a very important current subject. The preparation went well. The most difficult thing for me will be to be on the radio.”

With other comrades, she researched the journeys of five women “who occupy an important place in sport”. Modena looked at the rise of Corinne Deacon, international footballer, who became coach of the French women’s football team.
“It’s amazing to see them evolve”, marvels Clervie Guillou. The broadcasts can be followed live or delayed, today, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and tomorrow, from 8 to 12 p.m., on yeps.fr.
