25 years of imprisonment required against the accused

This Friday, September 16, the trial for the murder of Danielle Beauné, a woman killed in 2018 in Semur-en-Auxois, ends. In Dijon, the Assize Court requested Bruno A. 25 years in prison. His lawyers brought in new elements to defend him.

On Monday 12 September Bruno A. appeared before the Côte-d’Or Assize Court, dressed in a blue shirt, a surgical mask under his nose, slumped on the seat. Five days later, the suspect wears the same clothes and attitude. The hearing began on Friday, September 16 with the requisition of 25 years in prison against this 61-year-old man for killing Danielle Beauné near Semur-en-Auxois in 2018. His lawyers, however, have brought new elements. to defend their client.

After the announcement of the court, the lawyers of the accused, M.And Cabins e M.And Nicolle, defended their client for more than 2.5 hours, particularly insisting on one particular point: another suspect whose trail was cleared too quickly in their eyes. He is a man, MP, who “check all the same boxes as Bruno A.“, according to Maitre Cabannes. He also spent time with Danielle Beauné, was involved in a money affair.

“When the dogs lose track of Danielle Beauné at a crossroads, one can imagine she got into a car. MP revealed during an investigation that he had already met the 78-year-old woman in this place”defends Maître Cabannes.

If it may seem trivial, it turns out that this man lied about his occupations on the day of Madame Beauné’s disappearance. MP claims he went to the vet, a claim that was not confirmed by the police. Faced with all these elements, this man was to appear on Wednesday in the Assize Court. He will never be able to defend himself in front of the judges, hospitalized a few days earlier.

Maître Cabannes questions the fairness of the interrogations. It must be said that Bruno A immediately confessed to the authorities that he had killed Danielle Beauné in 2019. In this way, the trace of another suspect was immediately excluded. Maître Nicolle, the suspect’s other lawyer, defended his client on this matter. Under pressure from the authorities, he would plead guilty and make up a whole story. A confession “that doesn’t hold up from start to finish and shows my client was lying”according to the lawyer.

Bruno A.’s private life is also back on the table. According to relatives of him, the suspect had a painful childhood. Abused by his father and not defended by a mother in turn terrified of her husband, the 60-year-old has lived through a difficult period, but “who does not mean monstrosity”, according to Maître Cabannes. When this chapter of his life was lifted, the 61-year-old put his head in his arms. Was he going to placate the judges or was it these fragments of his youth that came to mind? The question will likely remain unanswered.

I didn’t kill Danielle Beauné

The main suspect ended his lawyers’ defense with a vicious response: “I didn’t kill Danielle Beauné”. The judges then invited the public to leave the courtroom, pending the resolution that will have to be pronounced around 6 pm.
