Twenty-five years ago, Thionville was plunged into one of the most appalling criminal cases it had ever known. On June 1, 1998, Adrien, aged 12, disappeared. His body was only found two months later, in a bunker, a no-man’s land frequented by marginalized people, on the right bank of the Moselle. Barely three months later, two suspects, Alex Din and Nicolas Hennetier, were indicted. In February 2001, the Moselle Assize Court sentenced Din to life imprisonment with a 30-year safety sentence for attempted rape and murder. Hennetier receives 30 years in prison for the murder. Sentences confirmed, a few months later, on appeal in Nancy. The two accused were acquitted of the rape of Adrien.
