On Sunday night near Hofstetten, a 25-year-old man drove his car off the road. He had alcohol and drugs in his blood.
According to the police, the accident happened around 0.30 a.m. on State Road 2336, where the 25-year-old was traveling from Hofstetten towards Gungolding. Shortly before the curve area to Allmannsgrund, he left the roadway with his car for reasons that are still unclear and then came to a stop on the embankment.
A patrol called by the Eichstätt police found the young man on site had a strong smell of alcohol. A first alcohol test showed a value of 1.72 per mille. Because of the high value, the man’s driver’s license was secured on site.
During the subsequent blood draw at the Eichstätt clinic, the driver also stated that he regularly consumed medically prescribed cannabis. The extent to which this also had an impact on his ability to drive must be shown by the result of a subsequent blood test.
After the end of the police measures, the man was allowed to go home. A criminal investigation was launched against him for drunk driving. His car was severely damaged at the front and had to be towed away. The damage here amounts to around 3000 euros.
