The motive of the alleged shooter Thomas A. is unclear. Police arrested him several hours after the first shots were fired on Saturday. Police confiscated the scooter and a 9mm handgun with an extended magazine.
The attacks began around 11:10 a.m. when the gunman shot a 21-year-old man in the shoulder in Brooklyn. The man was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive, according to police. However, nobody was hit. Eight minutes later, a 44-year-old man was shot in the face. He is in the hospital in critical condition. About a minute later, a 63-year-old was shot in the upper body. He was also taken to a hospital and his condition was stable. Police later reported a sixth shooting at an intersection. A 40-year-old man who was shot at was not injured.
