25 people fall with war arsenal, ammunition and money

The Dijín of the National Police and the support of the Office of National Security Investigations (HSI) of the ICE Agency of the United States, dismantled an arms trafficking network called Diamante, with the capture of 25 of its alleged members.

Of the 22 arrests made by court order, 18 materialized in Cali and 1 in Buga (Valle del Cauca), 2 in Bogotá and 1 in Medellín (Antioquia). The remaining 3 arrests were made in flagrante delicto in the capital of Valle del Cauca.

Under the coordination of a specialized prosecutor, this May 18 the uniformed officers carried out 28 simultaneous search and search procedures in the aforementioned cities, where the alleged implicated were seized short and long-range firearms (AK-40 rifles, rifles Sig Sauer with telescopic sight, grenade launchers, revolvers, pistols), grenades, ammunition of different calibers, accessories, essential parts for rifles and machine guns for private use, and cell phones.

Likewise, about $ 97 million in cash were seized, thereby affecting the illicit finances of this criminal organization.

According to the investigation documented with technical and testimonial evidence, interception of communications, surveillance and monitoring, this criminal structure that had been committing crimes since April 2019, brought weapons from the United States and later distributed them to illegal armed groups or collection offices, in different cities of the country.

In concentrated hearings, a guarantee control judge legalized the arrests of the 25 accused and the seizures. In the next few hours, the Prosecutor’s Office will make the imputation of charges and request an assurance measure for the detainees, as allegedly responsible for the crimes of conspiracy to commit a crime and manufacture, trafficking and carrying firearms for the exclusive use of the Military Forces or explosives .
