Yesterday the twenty-fifth edition of the Malaga Spanish Film Festival. With the projection of Emperor Code, by Jorge Coira, the official section opens, designed by the team directed by Juan Antonio Vigar, and which will last until the 27th of this month, when it closes with Llenos degracia by Roberto Bueso. There will be a total of 21 films, 13 Spanish and 8 Latin American, that will make up this cycle, with 19 of them competing in the competition. There are names of filmmakers such as Imanol Uribe, Daniel Guzmán, Dani de la Orden, Carla Simón or María Ripoll and other lesser-known ones who will also present their works, while titles from countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, Argentina can be discovered. , Bolivia, Uruguay, Chile or Guatemala.
The jury is chaired by Manuel Gutierrez Aragon and also made up of the actresses Marta Nieto and Cecilia Suárez, the writer Javier Cercas and the director of the Lima (Peru) film festival Marco Muhletaler.
In the zonazine section you can enjoy the most risky cinema, a commitment to the new cinema that is already 20 years old and where nine titles are screened (five Spanish ones -among which we find the latest by Sigfrid Monleón, Meritxell Collel, Luc Knowles, Ignacio Nacho and the work posthumous by Roberto Pérez- and four Latin Americans) that show that other narrative far from the most commercial canons. There will also be a space at this festival of Spanish cinema for special screenings out of competition with productions signed by Chus Gutiérrez, Ernesto Sevilla, Ana Bofarull, Pau Dura, David Martin and Ángeles Reiné.
A new section entitled +Málaga, International Premieres for those who wish to enjoy films in other languages that have garnered important awards at other festivals and have not yet been released in Spain. Television also has its space in a cycle (Screen TV) where seven series can be seen, out of competition. Documentary and short film sections are also not lacking. And to complete the menu, the gastronomic section of the festival is offered, where the spectator will find interesting audiovisual productions on said theme.
