25 Kindergarten Students Die When School Burns, Teacher Forgets to Evacuate Due to Panic

TRIBUNPEKANBARU.COM – Kindergarten School (TK) caught fire in Maradi province, Niger which resulted in the death of 25 children aged five to six.

All the victims could not be saved due to the panic that occurred so the teacher forgot to evacuate.

A classroom made of straw huts caught fire in southern Niger, officials said Tuesday.

Several other people were injured in the fire that occurred on Monday (11/8/2021) morning.

The fire broke out while children were attending school in the country’s Maradi region.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

In Niger, classrooms are often built using wood and straw.

When the main brick structure cannot accommodate all school children.

Monday’s fire (8/11/2021) destroyed three classrooms, Maradi Mayor Chaibou Aboubacar told local media, Tuesday (9/11/2021).

An eyewitness to the BBC on Tuesday (9/11/2021) said he saw several bodies brought from the scene.
