25 DHF Cases Occur in Agam in January 2022, One Patient Dies

Covesia.com – Cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) were quite high in Agam Regency, West Sumatra in early 2022. In January, there were 25 cases with 1 person reported dead.

The head of the Agam District Health Office, Hendri Rusdian, said that the 25 cases caused by the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito occurred in Lubuk Basung District. In fact, one patient from Ujung Labuh, Nagari Lubuk Basung died.

“To prevent mosquito breeding, officers also carry out fogging or fumigation around the houses of residents who are positive for dengue,” he said Monday (31/1/2022).

According to him, the high spread of dengue cases occurred after heavy rainfall hit the area at the end of December 2021.

Under these conditions, the Aedes aegypti mosquito breeds very quickly due to humid conditions and the large pool of water that can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

In addition to fogging, his party also dispatched officers to conduct counseling and motivate people to do mutual cooperation in their neighborhood.

Residents were asked to carry out the 3M movement by draining, closing the reservoir and stockpiling used cans. In addition, it is advisable not to hang clothes as that is the most preferred place for mosquitoes. “We also advise waega to sleep using a mosquito net,” he continued.

His party urges if there are symptoms, report them immediately and take them to the nearest Puskesmas, report that medical treatment can be done and anticipate the spread. “Report immediately, so that transmission can be prevented,” he said.
