24,787 Mexicans abroad are reinstated to the nominal list

Of the 39,724 cases that the National Electoral Institute (INE) had eliminated from the nominal list for voting in these elections of Mexicans residing abroad, until today 24,787 have already been reincorporated into the registry, that is, they have been corrected and They will be able to exercise their right to vote.

Following the recommendation of the National Surveillance Commission and the case-by-case analysis of the inconsistencies that had been detected, the institute has managed to make adjustments in 62.3 percent of the total cases with irregularities, so 38 percent remain without possibility of voting.

At a press conference, counselor Arturo Castillo explained that “no complaints have been filed, but it is not ruled out that we continue to carry out a deeper investigation to see if there was an attempt at possible fraud, we will continue investigating when the clarification period ends.” , specific.

For her part, counselor Claudia Zavala explained that of the 20,964 cases that the National Surveillance Commission recommended amending and returning to the nominal list, 18,395 were incorporated, as they were minor inconsistencies that could be resolved quickly.

Within these more than 20 thousand cases, 2,466 were the citizens themselves who clarified the errors and proceeded to return them to the nominal list, so 103 cases of situations with errors correctable by the INE remain pending.

In the case of the 18,760 registration requests with possible more serious irregularities, the counselor pointed out that they have received 10,473 clarifications, but only 3,926 have already been corrected and 6,547 are pending, so they have until 5 May to make the corrections, otherwise they will be left out to vote in this 2024 process.
