On Wednesday afternoon, blood donations took place without a hitch in the Osterhofen town hall (Deggendorf district): 257 people showed up willing to donate, 241 of whom were eligible, and the blood donation service of the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) collected the vital blood from them.
Franz Stöckl was also among the donors: the 61-year-old heating engineer donated blood for the third time. “I couldn’t do that before because I was away on assembly work, but now I have time for it,” he says. Blood donation is important to him because you may need donor blood yourself at some point and because it helps others. He is not afraid of the needle prick: “It doesn’t hurt,” he says, laughing.
Seven first-time donors were there this time
Seven donors came to donate blood for the first time on Wednesday. The Red Cross would like to thank all donors, according to a press release. The option to reserve an appointment was also very well received. But you can also come to donate blood without an appointment, although you may have to expect a short wait.
BRK and the blood donation service will honor repeat blood donors for their commitment: District Administrator Bernd Sibler, Chairman of the BRK Deggendorf District Association, is expected to award certificates in the course of 2025.
Next date: 9 September in Schöllnach
If you missed the appointment in Osterhofen: The next opportunity to donate blood in the Deggendorf district is on Monday, September 9, at the middle school in Schöllnach from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
