The Italian-Latvian co-production film “I was born Rosellini” will be screened at Baloži City Culture House on October 24 at 18.00. The Italian director Roberto Rosellini was a rather complicated father to his children. His scandalous novels with women at the time occupied the front pages of newspapers and left behind a number of ethnically diverse descendants. Alesandro, the director’s eldest grandson, has an uneven career as a photographer and a long history of drug addiction. Unable to keep up with the bar imposed by his grandfather-genius surname, at the age of 55 he decides to make a film about the Rosellini saga, gathering his famous relatives in front of the camera for almost impossible family therapy.

Personal and self-ironic documentary therapy – a view of the “dynasty’s destiny” and the family scattered in Italy, Sweden, the USA, India and the Middle East. The film’s director and “patient” in one person, Alessandro calls his outsider’s existence the curse of the Rosellini family – to become a genius or to accept being in the shadow of another’s success. According to him, Rosellini is a hyperbole of family mythology: glamorous, passionate and untrue.
