It was a rather unusual incident that occurred this Friday, April 21 on the A31 motorway in the afternoon, near the town of Arceau. For an as yet undetermined reason, a truck carrying 24 tonnes of solid sugar caught fire on the roadway.
The cargo is such that its extinction requires the intervention of twenty-six firefighters, a high-capacity machine and four other vehicles, including a chemical risk intervention truck. No injuries are reported.
A traffic jam of several kilometers
The major disaster, still in progress, required that traffic be completely cut off, on all lanes in the Nancy-Beaune direction. According to Autoroute info, a plug of several kilometers has also formed between Beire-le-Châtel and Arc-sur-Tille.
Traffic has resumed on one lane in the Nancy-Beaune direction.
