MADRID, Oct. 28 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Turkish authorities reported Friday that 24 people were arrested for their alleged involvement in the massive explosion two weeks ago in a coal mine in Bartin province in the north of the country, which resulted in 41 deaths.

The director of the mine, Cihat Ozdemir, as well as the main administrators and engineers, have been arrested, while the police continue to search for another suspect, according to the Anatolia news agency.

The explosion in the mine left at least a dozen injured, some of whom are still hospitalized in critical condition. Another 58 miners managed to be rescued.

However, the authorities have not yet clarified the causes of the explosion, which allegedly originated at a depth of 300 kilometers. The Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation to clarify what happened and determine if there was any kind of negligence.
