It was as if they were invited to return to Blora’s past condition by looking at the oil painting on canvas.

Some of the typical Blora objects depicted include the Pancasila Monument painting which was immediately collected by the Head of BPPKAD Blora Slamet Pamudji, then the Bangkle Bridge which was collected by the Managing Director of PT. Bank BPR BKK Blora Puguh Haryono.

Also objects that have changed functions such as the Blora Station which is currently in front of the Blok T Blora area.

“This painting started with input from my friends from class 82 of SMAN 1 Blora.”

“We feel that something is missing in the current conditions,” said Totok Pekik to tribunmuria.com, Friday (19/5/2023).

“Like baskets of arumanis, then baskets of crackers that are carried on the back, basically the era when it was still pure and not yet contaminated with technology,” added Totok Pekik.

One of the visitors, Prayitno, who is a painting teacher at SMPN 1 Blora, seemed to be enjoying the work of the man who currently lives in Jepara Carving City.

He confessed that he thought back to when he was young.

“At least this can remind us of the old conditions. The buses are still Patmo and Sedayu.”

“Warung Kajang Ijo was also famous before,” he said while showing some of the paintings he watched.

Meanwhile, Nur Indriatno, who was one of the initiators of the exhibition, revealed that what his colleague depicted was the condition of a Blora street corner in the 70s to 80s according to the memory of the painter.

According to him, the exhibition could be one of his efforts to build character by looking at Blora in the past.

“There’s no right or wrong in the work of art. So maybe it’s not like what’s depicted.”

“But at least it can bring back memories of the past,” he explained.

“Like a painting of a motorbike passing by in the rain and spraying people on the road and showing that the motorbike is apologizing,” he added.

The man who is familiarly called Nonot hopes that the exhibition of paintings can trigger art practitioners in Blora to be more courageous in creating and exhibiting their works.

“We focus on four areas. Arts, Culture, Education, and the environment.”

“If indeed there are artists who want to collaborate, we are open,” he concluded.

For those of you who want to dive into the old days of Blora, please come and enjoy 23 monochrome paintings of Totok Pekik at Joglo Herman, until 21 May 2023. (kim)
