“23 companies compete for the SME of the Year Award in Cantabria by Banco Santander and Chamber of Commerce”

A total of 23 companies compete for the SME of the Year Award in Cantabria, which is convened annually by Banco Santander and the Chamber of Commerce, and whose objective is to value the work of small and medium-sized companies as generators of wealth and job creators.

Throughout Spain there are 1,629 companies that compete for the award that reaches its seventh edition this year and the numbers of participants will increase in the coming months, since registrations are lacking in Albacete, La Rioja, Murcia and Zamora, where the SME Award will be held. convene in September.

The SME Award recognizes essential aspects of the contribution to society and the economy of SMEs, which make up 99.8% of the business fabric of Spain: job creation, with special attention to permanent employment; promotion of talent through training; international activity, focusing on the evolution of exports and the opening to new markets; innovation and digitization initiatives and socially responsible projects.

Barcelona with 162 registered companies; Madrid with 86; and the Balearic Islands with 79, are the territories that present, according to the number of registered participants, the highest participation. In the case of Cantabria, there have been 23 registered companies.

The SME of the Year Award is a distinction that is held in 50 provinces and has the participation of 52 territorial Chambers of Commerce, 13 territorial departments of Banco Santander and Spanish press outlets.

In the coming days, the meetings of the provincial juries will begin, which will decide, among all the candidates, five winners: Provincial SME of the Year Award, Internationalization Accsit, Training and Employment Accsit, Innovation and Digitization Accsit and Sustainable Company Accsit.

The provincial winners will compete for the 2023 National SME Award, which will be awarded in the first quarter of next year. They will also opt for the National Award, in their respective categories and the winners of the four second prizes.

As an already consolidated recognition, in the previous edition of the SME of the Year Award, a total of 1,766 companies from the 50 provinces and the Autonomous City of Ceuta registered, and 50 territorial Chambers of Commerce participated. In Cantabria, the Pyme del Ao Bound 4 Blue Award.
