22nd Opera Route Graz – for the first time with a Green Vice Chancellor

Graz, After the Graz Opera Route 2019 had to get by completely and exceptionally without a minister without a minister, a vice chancellor appeared this year, and with Werner Kogler a politician, who would otherwise not be found at society events. The highest ranking Styrian politician was LH Hermann Schützenhöfer (ÖVP), who also welcomed Minister Christine Aschbacher, who was born in Styria.

Sports Minister Werner Kogler came in a dark suit with a gray and red striped tie and accompanied by Sabine Jungwirth, former Styrian regional club boss and now Federal Spokeswoman for the Green Economy. One has completed his campaign and is Vice Chancellor, the other is in the middle of the campaign – for the Chamber of Commerce elections in March. Kogler had previously attended the Caritas Marienstüberl Ball in Graz.

The ÖVP had sent top representatives – Governor Hermann Schützenhöfer appeared as a regular guest for many years, with him Minister of Labor and Family Affairs and party friend Christine Aschbacher, for whom it was the first redoubt as Minister. No longer in a political role, but in a good mood the SPÖ-LHStv, who resigned last year after the election defeat, appeared. Michael Schickhofer with wife Ulrike.

In a green robe with subtly attached peacock feathers, opera director Nora Schmid welcomed the guests to the staircase. At her side was ball organizer Bernd Pürcher, who also wore a peacock feather on his tuxedo. One of the most beautiful ladies in Austria had appeared with Larissa Robitschko – in a glittering cream-colored robe with the red, white and red “Miss Austria 2019” sash.

As in the previous year, ÖFB team manager Franco Foda danced again this year, but according to his own admission not to sweep the floor. Alfons Haider – former conference leader of the Redoute – again visited the opera house on the ring in private.

Without the Mayor of Graz Siegfried Nagl (ÖVP), the redoubt had to take place for the second time this year. Nagl had only appeared once before because he was ill. This time he was absent for private reasons, Günter Riegler, City Councilor for Finance and Culture. The “highest ranking” politician in Graz was FPÖ Vice Mayor Mario Eustacchio.

Sonja Klima, head of the Vienna Riding School, visited the opera route for the first time – in Styria it often has to do, after all, the Piber stud is the “nursery” of the Lipizzaner horses and is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

On Saturday, two Graz Ball institutions celebrated – the Marienstüberl Ball of the social institution of the same name, operated by Caritas, and the Volkshaus redoubt of the KPÖ. At the Marienstüberl-Ball there was a shaken level of Graz city and state politicians, from ÖVP to SPÖ to Greens and KPÖ. Opera ball organizer Maria Großbauer also came to the Marienstüberlball in Keplerstrasse, invited and accompanied by ÖVP city councilor Kurt Hohensinner, after which she went to the opera route after moving.
