The 22nd session of the “Clean UAE” campaign of the Emirates Environment Working Group has landed in the Emirate of Dubai, its last stop, coinciding with the Year of Sustainability and the post-United Nations Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP28).
In cooperation with Dubai Municipality, the management of Saih Al Salam Reserve, and Dubai Economy and Tourism, the campaign was launched across four locations in Saih Al Salam, with the participation of 7,327 volunteers from various segments of society. The participants wore cotton T-shirts and hats specially designed for the campaign, and were equipped with reusable cotton gloves and biodegradable plastic bags. They combined their efforts in the early hours of the morning to actively contribute to the environmental initiative, which contributed to the collection of 10.5 tons of waste.
Habiba Al Marashi, founding member and head of the Emirates Environmental Action Group, said in a speech marking the conclusion of the campaign: “Guided by our passion for sustainable change, we begin every campaign with a pledge to preserve our environment. The Clean UAE Initiative, which has now entered its 22nd year, is a testament to our ongoing commitment to raising a responsible nation. As we face challenges and victories together, we are not just cleaning up, we are creating a legacy of environmental awareness. Let our actions resonate beyond the waste collected, echoing the call for a greener, more harmonious future for generations to come.” Al Marashi expressed her appreciation to the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment for its continued sponsorship, and thanked the entities supporting the campaign, including Dubai Municipality, the management of Saih Al Salam Reserve, and Dubai Economy and Tourism.
