Cianjur –
The Cianjur District Health Office noted that there were 551 new HIV/AIDS sufferers in Cianjur in the 2019-2022 period. Of that number, 228 people or almost 50 percent of them are caused by male sex behavior (MSM).
The Head of Health Services at the Cianjur District Health Office, Frida Laila Yahya, said that in 2019 there were 179 people with HIV/AIDS, 79 of whom were MSM. Then in 2020 there were 179 people with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) with 74 of them MSM.
Meanwhile, in 2021, there were 111 new cases of HIV/AIDS recorded with MSM as many as 32 people. Meanwhile, in 2022, from January to April there were 82 new cases with 43 of them being MSM.
“Every year there are around 100 new PLWHA people. And this year, from the fourth data, the number is not the last, the number has reached 82 cases. Worse yet, this year around 50 percent of them are MSM,” he said, Tuesday (31/5/2022).
According to him, apart from the data, it is suspected that there are still many new PLWHA who do not do medical tests. He said the case of HIV/AIDS is like an iceberg phenomenon.
“The phenomenon is like an iceberg, which is on the surface or that is recorded, but there are still many possibilities, because they don’t want a medical test,” he said.
Frida said deviant sexual behavior is vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. Moreover, there are perpetrators of this deviant sex who do not use safety equipment.
“The risk is very big. That’s why many are infected,” he said.
He also revealed that MSM who have HIV/AIDS are mostly young. This is because deviant sexual behavior in Cianjur is currently being carried out by the younger generation.
“Most of them are young, the phenomenon is like that. That’s why it is very concerning and must be prevented,” he said.
On the other hand, Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman said the Regency Government would coordinate with the MUI to provide guidance and socialization to the community to prevent LGBT.
“We will go down to every sub-district and village, we will involve the government to the RW and RT levels to participate in preventing LGBT. Either through socialization or religious guidance,” he said.
He admitted that currently he has not been able to provide guidance for LGBT perpetrators, because the perpetrators are still closed.
“So for now we take action to prevent its spread first, only if there is openness from the perpetrators, we will prepare a recovery house so that this deviant sex offender can recover,” he concluded.
