22 Years Living at Arsenal, Arsene Wenger “Regret” Page all

KOMPAS.com – Arsene Wenger felt himself staying on too long Arsenal. Even so, he remains fully committed as long as he coaches the Gunners.

Twenty two years. That was the time Arsene Wenger spent managing Arsenal.

The man from France first came to Arsenal in 1996-1997 and left at the end of the 2017-2018 season.

During that time, Wenger presented 17 trophies for Arsenal, including three Premier League and seven FA Cups.

The 2003-2004 Premier League title may be the most memorable for Wenger.

At that time, he led Arsenal, who was still strengthened by Thierry Henry, to the championship ladder without being defeated.

Wenger has also always qualified Arsenal for the Champions League during his training, except for his last two seasons (2016-2017 and 2017-2018).

Spending 22 years to coach a club is not a short time. Wenger admitted that.

In his joint interview The Times, Wenger revealed that he “regretted” staying too long at Arsenal.

“Maybe I stayed too long (at Arsenal),” said Wenger, as quoted from Goal, Saturday (3/10/2020).

“However, I have been committed from the first day I coached Arsenal,” he added.

“I think I guided the club through a difficult period in a very successful way,” said the man from Strasbourg.

On this occasion, Wenger also said that he plans to return to Arsenal someday.

“I will go there someday. However, at this time it is better for me to monitor them from afar,” he said.

After Wenger’s departure, Arsenal were coached by Unai emery, which led them to finish fifth in the 2018-2019 Premier League.

Emery was then sacked in the middle of the 2019-2020 season and Arsenal appointed Mikel Arteta as a new coach.

In Arteta’s hands, Arsenal have won one FA Cup and Community Shield so far.

Wenger also believes Arteta can make Arsenal excel again.
