22-year-old Dutchman lives voluntarily in a ward for the elderly with dementia

“The only way to change care is to live there. So I emailed a residential care center and to my surprise I was immediately allowed to move to the closed ward.”

Teun Toebes explains in “The appointment” why he has been living in a residential care center for more than a year now, among the elderly with dementia. “I have the same toilet, shower, living room. I am really an equal roommate, because we have lost that equality when we deal with people with dementia,” says Toebes.
