In his opening speech, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said the achievements of the diplomatic sector were partly due to the significant contributions of local Foreign Services.
The minister particularly insisted on their contributions to consolidating the borders of peace, friendship, cooperation and development. In terms of economic diplomacy, according to him, over the last three years, localities have signed 422 cooperation agreements with international partners.
Regarding cultural diplomacy, 13 heritages have been recognized by UNESCO in the last three years and many other heritage documents are under review by UNESCO. The links between localities and the diaspora abroad are increasingly close, serving local development.
In order to promote the pioneering role of the Foreign Affairs Department in serving the sustainable development of localities, Minister Bùi Thanh Son proposed to carefully implement the resolutions, conclusions and directives on foreign affairs issued by the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat and the government since the beginning of the 13th term.
He insisted on the need to continue promoting local diplomacy in a synchronous, effective and creative manner, in which economic diplomacy constitutes a central and fundamental task.
The head of Vietnamese diplomacy also underlined the importance of improving the quality and skills of personnel working in this sector in localities…
