/ world today news/ BSP to propose a position for the development of a new European policy for peace and a new strategic concept of NATO as a defense alliance
Russia’s military operation in Ukraine marks the abysmal failure of diplomacy to find a solution to the contradictions that have escalated to the extreme between the US, NATO and the Russian Federation.
How did it get here?
For decades, the US and NATO have violated the principles of international law and ignored the commitments made to Moscow that NATO would not expand to the borders of the Russian Federation. The EU remained a bystander to the deepening tension, without its own initiatives to overcome it through a system of permanent guarantees for European security.
Something more. On November 21, 2013, a neo-Nazi coup d’état took place in Ukraine with the participation and support of EU and NATO countries. For eight years, the regime in Kiev revived the Nazi ideology and practice, provoked division and opposition in Ukraine itself, hysterical Russophobia and Banderism led to the death of over 13 thousand people, twice as many were injured, maimed and disappeared without a trace, they were burned alive in Odessa 50 people, and the “international democratic community” announced the perpetrators of these crimes as guardians of European values… Today the world is shocked by Russia’s military actions on Ukrainian territory.
We declare! Even the thought of war in Europe is absolutely unacceptable in the 21st century!
What can you do?
Today, it is imperative to urgently begin to agree on the most necessary measures to overcome the military phase of the conflict, as well as to identify the main orientations of a new system for lasting peace and guaranteed security for all European countries. For Bulgaria’s national security, such a system is of vital interest, including and specifically in relation to the Black Sea region. The Republic of Bulgaria, as an equal member of both the European Union and NATO, is also equally responsible for the formation of the policies of both unions in matters of defense and security. Now more than ever!
IPO “Socialism XXI century”, categorically insists, without delay, to transition to the most responsible actions required for the benefit of peace and security on our continent and on a global scale! To this end, it is crucial that NATO and the US fully consider Russia’s legitimate demands to guarantee its national security, and that the Russian Federation, in turn, fully guarantee Ukraine’s sovereignty.
Guided by the understanding that the national security of every country in Europe and in the world should be guaranteed in a mutual relationship with the security of both the adjacent countries and the countries of the respective region and on a pan-European scale, we insist that the BSP propose a comprehensive position of Bulgaria for rejecting war in favor of peace by way of diplomacy on equal footing:
· Termination of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine and establishment of peace based on the necessary arrangements with the Russian Federation;
Refusal of increased deployment of NATO military contingents in Bulgaria and in the member states of the Eastern Wing of the Alliance;
· Suspension of NATO’s expansion to the East and refusal of Ukraine’s accession to NATO with full guarantees for its security and sovereignty;
· The Republic of Bulgaria should propose the development within the EU of a new European policy for peace in Europe based on the principles and mechanisms of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe /OSCE/ and the fundamental norms of the United Nations /UN/;
· The Republic of Bulgaria to propose the adoption of a new NATO strategic concept in fulfillment of its role as a defense alliance in fulfillment of Article One of the North Atlantic Treaty of April 4, 1949: “The Parties to the Treaty undertake, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations, to settle any international dispute in which they may become involved, by peaceful means and in a manner which does not endanger international peace, security and justice, and to refrain in their international relations from the threat of force or the use of force in any manner inconsistent with the purposes of the United Nations.”
