The number of new corona infections in Hamburg has risen again. According to the social authorities, 219 new corona cases were registered on Wednesday. That is 6 more than on Wednesday a week ago and 57 more than on Tuesday.
According to the authorities, a total of 48,273 people in Hamburg have tested positive for the corona virus since the pandemic began. According to estimates by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), around 42,200 of these can now be regarded as recovered.
Incidence increased slightly
The number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days has increased slightly compared to the previous day to 68.4. A week ago the value was 75.3.
Fewer corona patients in Hamburg’s clinics
338 corona patients are currently being treated in Hamburg’s hospitals, 15 fewer than last stated. The number of people in intensive care has also decreased: 75 people are currently being cared for there – 6 fewer than the day before.
Ten more deaths
According to the RKI, 1,158 people have died in connection with Covid 19 in the Hanseatic city since the beginning of the pandemic, 10 more deaths than last reported.
On Tuesday, the Senate announced that among all over 90-year-old Hamburgers infected with the coronavirus, the proportion of deceased is currently around 20.9 percent. Among the 80 to 89 year olds around 18.5 percent, among the 70 to 79 year olds around 10.5 percent, among the 60 to 69 year olds around 2 percent, and in all other age segments significantly under one percent.
PCR tests: the rate of positive results is decreasing
According to the social welfare authorities, the number of PCR tests in Hamburg that are evaluated in the laboratory is currently around 14,400 on average per working day. The rate of positive findings has therefore decreased to 4.8 percent. In addition, rapid tests are carried out on a large scale, the results of which are not fully available to the authorities.
