“2,150 Ukrainian Children Illegally Deported to Belarus: Report”

According to the report, 2,150 Ukrainian children, including six- to 15-year-old orphans, were taken to so-called rest camps and sanatoriums on the territory of Belarus.

Ukrainian children in Belarus were taken to the Gomel region sanatorium “Zolotije peski” and the Minsk region sanatorium “Ostroshitkij gorodok” and the camp “Dubrava”.

Bringing the children to Belarus was illegal and violated the Geneva Convention and the Statute of the International Criminal Court, the report said.

The first group of approximately 350 children arrived from the occupied Donetsk region on September 5 and 6, the second and third groups – at the end of September and mid-October. Deportation of children also took place in April and May this year.

The children were first transported from the occupied territories in Russia by buses, and then by trains to Belarus.

“Lukashenko ordered the transfer of orphans to Belarus and facilitated their arrival with financial and organizational support,” the report says.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has announced that the names of 19,500 children deported from Ukraine have been ascertained, but their real number may be higher, as at least 200,000 children were in territories occupied by Russia.
