215 bodies of Indigenous Canadian children found, Trudeau calls for honor flags at half mast

OTTAWA, KOMPAS.TV – The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, has called for the salute to the half -mast flag at a number of government buildings.

The hoisting was done to honor the discovery of the bodies of 215 indigenous Canadian children in a former ancient school.

Such raisings include the Peace Tower in the Parliament building in Ottawa.

Trudeau revealed this in his tweet on Twitter, Sunday (30/5/2021).

“The action is in honor of the 215 children whose lives were taken at the former Kamloops boarding school and all the indigenous children who never returned, the survivors and their families,” he said.

Indigenous Canadian leaders have asked the government to order respect at half-mast across Canada following the discovery.
