Marek Bláha announced an important decision via social networks: at just 21 years old, he reached the end of his hockey journey. The reason is protracted health problems.
“Hello everyone, as many of you already know, I have been struggling with health problems for a long time,” Bláha said.
And he continued: “During intense training and exercise, I feel severe pain, and therefore I am forced to announce that I have to leave hockey at the highest level…”
“I feel severe pain during intense training and exercise.”
“Fortunately, I have always dedicated a lot of time to school, which is why I can happily announce that my path to the MDDr title will begin from the following academic year,” added the talented defender and attached a picture in front of the Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University in Pilsen.
Bláha has been developing in Finland since the summer of 2020, but last season he played only three matches for the TUTO Hockey junior team. A year earlier, he played eight times in the Mestis League, which is his only experience with adult hockey.
“I hope to see you all in my office in the future.”
In Sparta’s academy, he previously had a reputation as one of the biggest defensive talents of the year 2002. He surpassed his peers in skating or creativity, and you usually noticed him on the ice because of his characteristic style and small frame.
In addition, he regularly received invitations from national team coaches: he gradually started for all youth categories. He appeared, for example, at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup or the World U17 Hockey Challenge.
He already mentioned the idea of studying three years ago in a hokeki.cz questionnaire. Now a completely new stage of his life is really taking place: the native of Prague aspires to become a dentist.
“I would like to thank everyone who accompanied me throughout my hockey career. It was a ride! However, now is the time to change priorities. I hope to see you all in my office in the future,” concludes Bláha.
