On Saturday (10 August 2024), a 21-year-old driver caused an accident in Bossonnens (FR) as a result of microsleep.
On Saturday, August 10, 2024, at around 6 a.m., the Granges and Châtel fire departments and the cantonal police were called to the scene of a traffic accident on the Route de Vevey in Bossonnens.
As a result of the impact, the vehicle caught fire and the fire spread to the facade of the building.
The fire brigade arrived quickly and was able to contain the fire. The residents left the building as a precaution. After the operation, they were able to return to their homes.
Initial investigations revealed that the 21-year-old driver was travelling on the Route de Vevey in the direction of Attalens. He lost control of his vehicle due to a moment of sleep, drove down an embankment and ended up in the garden of a house. He was able to get out of his vehicle under his own power before it burst into flames. He was not injured in the accident.
The vehicle was towed away by the emergency garage. His driver’s license was confiscated. It will be reported to the relevant authorities.
