Dengue hemorrhagic fever or DHF is still a classic problem that threatens the health of residents in East Java. Since January 1-27 2022, 1,220 people have been affected by dengue and 21 of them have died.
The East Java Provincial Health Office (Dinkes) noted that the number of people with infectious diseases caused by the dengue virus tends to increase in the same month.
It was recorded that in Bojonegoro 112 people, Nganjuk 82 people, Malang 73 people, Ponorogo 64 people, Tuban 61 people. The highest number of dengue fever deaths in 2022 is Pamekasan 3 people, Bojonegoro 2 people, Nganjuk 2 people.
When compared to 2021 in January 2021, there were 668 DHF patients with 5 deaths. The total number of dengue patients in 2021 in East Java is 6,417 people, with a total death toll of 71 people.
Head of the East Java Health Office, Dr Erwin Astha Triyono, claimed that his party had maximized fogging. Especially in areas where there are dengue patients. “Why is fogging needed, where there are patients, because at that time it kills adult mosquitoes so they don’t infect other people,” he said, Thursday (27/1).
Compared to last year in the same month, continued Erwin, his party must share their attention, not just Covid-19. “From now on, the public must share their concerns. For example, if there is a fever, then we should not only think about the possibility of Covid-19. But also considered dengue fever. So that the public and medical personnel can start to suspect if there are symptoms of fever,” he said.
Asked about the bed occupancy rate (BOR), Erwin admitted that he had not yet updated several beds in each City Regency. “In principle, this is only data related to incidents, regarding the bed, we will re-submit,” he explained.
Erwin revealed, several reports, indeed his hospitalization increased 67 percent. That, according to him, is very good. “Why is it good, because hospitalization is not only for Covid-19 patients, but also for other patients. And we haven’t calculated from 67 percent how many percent are used for DHF,” he said. [geh.wwn]
