Bologna, 28 March 2023 – Twenty-one people arrested (20 in jail and 1 under house arrest), the seizure of 745 kilos of cocaine (for a value of 61 million eurosif sold retail) and the dismantling of a criminal association that supplied itself directly to the manufacturer, in Santo Domingo, of cocaine being imported (obviously in an illicit way) hidden among raw bovine hides. “The drug river” arrived in Italy aboard containers which were shipped to a company set up specifically for this purpose. The searches in the homes of the suspects, in addition to the seizure of 5 cars, also allowed for the seizure 341 thousand euros in cash. There are therefore 21 arrests ordered at the end of the Bologna police operation: the hypothesized crimes are criminal association aimed at drug trafficking, detention for large quantities of drugs and money laundering.

Among the 21 suspects there are also 4 women: most of them are Dominican nationals, but there are also Italians and an Albanian. The prefect of Bologna, Francesco Messina, explains: “The suspects had set up a deep-rooted supply channel, moving along an axis that started directly from production and arrived, in a fairly capillary way, at the dealingwith deliveries also to Roma e Varese”.
