21 Health Workers Positive for COVID-19, Biak Hospital Temporarily Closed Services

Liputan6.com, Jakarta The Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Biak, Papua has temporarily closed health services. This step was taken after 21 health workers at the hospital confirmed positive COVID-19.

“It is true that the local government hospital is closed because there are health workers who have contracted the new Coronavirus,” said the spokesman for the Papua COVID-19 Prevention and Handling Task Force Dr. Silwanus Sumule in Jayapura, Sunday (6/9/2020), reported Antara.

The closure of Biak Hospital services covers all health services in the polyclinic, except for the Emergency Room (IGD), obstetrics, and hemodialysis, as well as inpatient care.

The service closure will be carried out until Saturday (12/9/2020). However, Sumule said it depends on laboratory results related to swab examinations of other health workers. Sumule admitted that he received this information from the Director of Biak Hospital, Dr. Ricardo.

Admittedly, three out of 21 health workers positive for COVID-19 are doctors and are currently doing self-quarantine as they have no symptoms or mild illness.
