On the occasion of the 15th Comic Festival in the Dresden Central Library, we will take you on a cinematic journey through time and immerse yourself in the world of the popular Polish comic characters Lolek and Bolek.

Lolek and Bolek (in the Polish original Bolek i Lolek) is the name of a Polish comic series and several animated films. The two brothers Bolek (the older one) and Lolek (the younger one) rose to fame through a long-running animated film series that began in 1964 with the award-winning short film The Crossbow. The two appeared in over 150 short films by 1986. The stories were also very popular in the GDR. In five great animated films we experience exciting adventures and funny pranks of the two comic heroes. Enjoy!

CAR TRIP – A trip by car

- A trip by car brings with it many difficulties for Lolek and Bolek. They have to overcome streets polluted by smoke and exhaust fumes, flocks of sheep, construction sites and rivers. ADVENTURE ON TWO WHEELS – Adventure on two wheels

- A new adventure for Lolek and Bolek. This time they go on a bike ride that is not without obstacles. First they both try to get ahead on one bike. But in doing so they break the traffic rules and get into trouble. Lolek then builds a penny-farthing. Finally they find the solution: they both ride on a tandem.
BULL – The young bull

- Lolek and Bolek are disturbed by a bull calf while they are with their holiday friends. They have to endure a few unpleasant encounters before they realize that the little bull’s anger is mainly directed at their red clothes. They try their hand at being bullfighters.

FRIENDS OF THE BEAVERS – Friends of the Beavers

- Lolek and Bolek go camping and experience many surprises. There is a lake right next to their tent with beavers in the reeds. The two holidaymakers believe that the beavers are playing tricks on them and they are not at all fond of the animals. But when the beavers are in danger, Lolek and Bolek are on hand to save them.
