Last Saturday, September 4, in La Alameda de La Aldea de San Nicolás, within a framework of strong security measures, the act of the 20th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Aires de La Aldea Music Band and the first five years of his Gloria de la Nuez-Aires de La Aldea Music School. The event was presented by Raúl del Toro and encouraged by the concert of the bands Guayedra from Agaete, Aires de La Aldea and the parish choir.
The Guayedra Music Band (Agaete), directed by Juan Ramón Martín Trujillo, opened the concert with some five well-known musical pieces very well executed and applauded. This band, founded in 1978, on this occasion brought some forty musicians of all ages from young to old to La Aldea with its dean and co-founder, the historic musician from Agaete Jerónimo Martín.
Then the digital book was presented Aires de La Aldea Music Band (2011-2021) written by the official chronicler of the municipality Francisco Suárez Moreno who intervened with a historical reference about this band and the link in music bands between La Aldea and Agaete. And he emphasized the important social and educational role of music bands in the Canary Islands in animation and in teaching music to the popular classes. The Aires de La Aldea Band, conducted by María José Casanova, very well coordinated, offered the last pieces of her repertoire at her long-awaited concert, which is now almost one hundred. The parish choir participated with her, singing the hymn and songs alluding to the municipality. Next, the president of the Aires de La Aldea Association, José Navarro Matías, thanked the collaborators and local society for the support received and highlighted the work of the music school where more than eighty students of all ages study, the role of families and the effort of musicians. For this purpose, several commemorative plaques and plaques of appreciation were given to institutions, collaborators and the city council in the person of the mayor, Tomas Pérez, who thanked the work of the village music schools and especially Aires de La Aldea for his twenty years of life and highlighted the great effort involved in carrying out these projects for musicians, families and schools.
