2030 World Cup will be held in six countries. Spain, Portugal and Morocco are the main hosts but the initial matches will be held in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.
The 2030 World Cup will also mark the 100th anniversary of this event. The most prestigious world football tournament was first held in 1930 in Uruguay.
Regarding this matter, FIFA made a breakthrough regarding hosting the 2030 World Cup. This event will certainly be held in six different countries from three continents.
Spain, Portugal and Morocco will have the status as main hosts. However, the initial matches for the 2030 World Cup will be played in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.
Spain and Portugal are on the European continent, Morocco is on the African continent. Meanwhile, the three hosts for the initial match are from South America.
FIFA’s decision to play the initial matches of the 2030 World Cup in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay is part of the 100th anniversary of the World Cup. After that, all 2023 World Cup matches will be held in Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
The 2030 World Cup will be attended by 48 countries. The six host countries above will qualify directly for the final round.
“The FIFA Council, which represents the entire world of football, has unanimously agreed to celebrate the centenary of the World Cup, whose first edition was played in Uruguay in 1930, in the most appropriate way,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino as quoted by the BBC.
“By 2030, we will have a unique global footprint, three continents – Africa, Europe and South America – six countries – Argentina, Morocco, Paraguay, Portugal, Spain and Uruguay – welcoming and uniting the world while celebrating together the beautiful game in the centenary of the World Cup,” he explained.
