Fewer kilograms, less downforce and approximately the same number of horses – this is how one could describe the changes that single-seaters will go through with the arrival of new rules in 2026. Current single-seaters have about a thousand horsepower, and nothing will change in this regard even after 2026. However, the “origin” of these horsepower will change. While the internal combustion engine has contributed to the performance of the car to a greater extent, now its electric counterpart will take over the main role.
“Monoposty will have more than a thousand horses in 2026. We want the electric motor to produce most of them. At the moment, it looks like the electric motor will contribute nine hundred horses to the total output.” he revealed Pat Symondswho indicated that it is not important that the single-seater has as many kilowatts as possible, but that we see a lot of overtaking maneuvers on the track.
For this purpose, it intends to reduce the downforce of cars, as well as their weight. “We want the cars to have less downforce,” he said Symonds. “Part of the reason cars are so heavy these days is because they have to deal with a lot of overload.”

However, due recognition is not given to the budget ceiling. The real future of Formula 1 is precisely the budget ceiling.”
