Jakarta –
The three 2024 vice presidential candidates have clashed with each other fourth debate last Sunday night. The teams for each candidate pair claim to be champions in the vice presidential debate.
Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin), Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Mahfud Md competed with each other on the debate stage at JCC Senayan, last Sunday (21/1). The themes of the debate are sustainable development and the environment, natural resources and energy, food, agrarian affairs, indigenous communities and villages.
Cak Imin became the first vice presidential candidate to explain his vision and mission on the debate stage. At that moment, Cak Imin immediately insinuated that the state was ignoring farmers. In fact, he said, farmers are the country’s helpers.
“Hadratussyeikh Hasyim Asy’ari, founder of Nahdlatul Ulama, said that farmers are the helpers of the country, but today we see that the state and government are ignoring the fate of our farmers and fishermen,” said Cak Imin in the fourth debate.
He then quipped about someone who had power over 500 thousand hectares of land.
Gibran then explained his vision and mission in the debate. Gibran said he would continue the downstream program and promised green jobs.
“Indonesia is a big country, we must be grateful that Indonesia has very rich natural resources. Among them we have the largest nickel reserves in the world, the second largest tin, therefore the downstream program must be continued and expanded in scope,” said Gibran.
Gibran said downstreaming is not only in the mining sector. But also in the agricultural, maritime and digital downstream sectors.
He assessed that if downstreaming, equitable development and energy transition could be carried out, around 19 million jobs would be created. As many as 5 million of them are green jobs, namely job opportunities in the field of environmental conservation.
“If we can control the downstream agenda, equitable development, green energy transition, creative economy, MSMEs, God willing, 19 million jobs will be opened for the younger generation and women, 5 million of which are green jobs, these are job opportunities in the field of environmental conservation ,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mahfud Md talked about abundant natural resources but food sovereignty has not been realized. Mahfud mentioned that farmers and agricultural land are getting smaller but fertilizer subsidies are getting bigger.
“Our natural resources are very rich but food is not yet sovereign. There are fewer farmers, less agricultural land, but fertilizer subsidies are getting bigger, there must be something wrong. There are few farmers, little land, how come the subsidies increase every year, there must be something wrong,” Mahfud said.
Mahfud also mentioned polluted sea and air. He said that natural resources now seemed to be a source of dispute in society.
He explained that Indonesian local wisdom had given the community a message to protect nature and the environment. This is also regulated in the Indonesian constitution.
“Even our constitution also states that natural resources must be managed and used for the greatest prosperity of the people,” said Mahfud.
During the debate on Sunday night, the three vice presidential candidates also asked each other questions. A heated debate between Cak Imin Vs Gibran or Mahfud Vs Gibran occurred. The heat on the debate stage then ended with shaking hands between the three 2024 vice presidential candidates.
Anies gives Cak Imin a score of 11 out of 10
Presidential candidate number 01, Anies Baswedan, praised Cak Imin’s performance in the fourth debate. He said that Cak Imin had succeeded in maintaining the spirit of the debate and at the same time being able to convey the substance without needing to do a lot of stunts.
“As I said last night, we saw Gus Imin maintain the spirit of debate, Gus Imin said that the substance does not need a lot of attractions because the substance is already good,” said Anies at the Cikarang Mini Stadium, West Java, Monday (22/1/2024).
Anies also mentioned the attractions that occurred during the fourth debate in the 2024 presidential election yesterday. According to him, the attraction on the debate stage is only to cover up his weaknesses.
“If the substance is weak, then the attraction will be used to cover up the weakness,” he said.
Anies then advised the Indonesian people to choose leaders who do not play around and are ready for the future of the Indonesian nation. Finally, Anies also gave a score of 11 out of 10 for Cak Imin’s performance in the second Cawapres debate last Sunday night.
“I give it 11, 11 out of 10,” he concluded.
